Community Services Unlimited

Community Services Unlimited Inc. (csuinc.org) is a non-profit based in South Central. Through GROW South Central (csuinc.org/GROW) we offer free garden and nutrition education classes and opportunities for people growing food in South Central to sell to our social enterprise, The Village Market Place (csuinc.org/village-market-place). We welcome volunteers to join us on our urban farm to build their own skills while helping to grow good food for our community. Volunteering on the farm is a great opportunity to get community service hours (csuinc.org/about-us/volunteer-with-us). We are currently recruiting for our From the Ground Up internship program, which engages South Central youth in hands on food justice centered knowledge and skills building (csuinc.org/programs/from-the-ground-up). Stop by the Village Market Place store and Cafe located at 66th and Vermont to learn more, follow us on IG @csuinc or @vmpcsu and on Facebook /csuinc

Peer Health Exchange / selfsea

selfsea provides young people with support, resources, and stories from young adults who've been there. With the belief that self-care is community care, selfsea was designed together with young people as a place where they can see themselves reflected within a supportive and inclusive community that prioritizes their identity and experiences about mental health, sexual health, and beyond. https://selfsea.org/. Also available in the App store and Google Play!

In the coming months, we will continue to partner with young people to improve the offering by adding additional resources, videos, and features that meet their needs.

Young people can find opportunities to get involved with selfsea at this link https://www.peerhealthexchange.org/about/get-involved and can continue being involved with selfsea when they become young adults by volunteering to be Peer Health Navigators too!

In May, Peer Health Exchange launched selfsea, a web app co-designed with young people to boost access to inclusive health resources and information for youth everywhere. Due to the pandemic's significant impact on young people’s mental health, Peer Health Exchange found that it needed to pivot to meet the needs of young people now more than ever. At the height of the pandemic, young people were no longer in classrooms, unable to meet up with friends and family or find resources that could support them with their well-being. selfsea is that solution, providing Peer Health Exchange with the opportunity to reach young people where they are.

UMMA Teen Clinic

The Fremont Wellness Center was established on John C. Fremont High School’s campus in 2012. Since then, we have designated part of that clinic as the UMMA Teen Clinic which is exclusively for youth! We serve the immediate Fremont High School student community but welcome any student within LAUSD. We have a wide range of services directed at teens such as sports physicals, immunizations, STI testing and treatment, contraceptives, and routine dental procedures. We also have behavioral health services available for students and free goodies such as condoms, sanitary pads/tampons, and snacks in the lobby. Additionally, our Student Health Leaders carry out health education via Instagram to inform teens at large about health issues that are important to be aware of. Some of the topics include, but are not limited to: substance use prevention, mental health wellness, safe sex, healthy relationships, STI awareness, and healthy lifestyle. You can follow us @ummateenclinic!

We are located at 7821 Avalon Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90003. Our hours of operation are Monday-Thursday, 7am-5pm and Friday, 8am-5pm.
