Sexual and reproductive health care - like pre-natal and maternity care, abortion, birth control and STD treatment - are essential services that remain vital during pandemics and public health emergencies. While other states are seizing the COVID-19 crisis to limit access to reproductive health care, California has taken decisive action to protect and expand access to these time-sensitive services in our current environment.
In this session, presenters will provide an overview of state policy updates and share opportunities for advocates and providers to take action to support access to comprehensive sexual and reproductive health care for all in our shifting landscape. Experts in the field will also discuss health inequities exacerbated by COVID-19, and what needs to be done to address the disparities that remain.
After the webinar, participants will be able to:
Describe new policies to support access to sexual and reproductive health care during the COVID-19 pandemic
Discuss policy changes that must be maintained post-COVID-19
Identify health disparities exacerbated by the public health crisis
The California Coalition for Reproductive Freedom (CCRF) works to advance sexual and reproductive health, rights, and justice in the State of California through collaborative policy change efforts.
We envision a world where public policies and programs are responsive to the health, social, economic and political needs of California’s youth, women, and families, and where the voices of the State’s diverse populations are included in developing and implementing public policy.
