Cardea WISE Project - So Cal Consultant

Through our Working to Institutionalize Sexuality Education (WISE) project, Cardea provides support to school districts in the implementation of comprehensive sexual health education that is in compliance with the California Healthy Youth Act. Cardea’s WISE projects currently partners with local County Offices of Education to support school districts in Alameda, Contra Costa,  Los Angeles, San Mateo, Santa Clara and Santa Cruz and offers assistance to Orange County Office of Education.

Our work centers around the development of county level Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) Networks that are convened in partnership with county offices of education (COE). These networks bring together district level administrators to provide information, strategies, best practices, capacity building and peer support in the development and implementation of sexual health education programs.  These networks are ideally coordinated by local stakeholders and district and COE representatives that form a planning committee, with the support of Cardea staff.

In addition to the CSE Networks, Cardea also works to establish systems to provide districts with individualized technical assistance. In the Bay Area TA is provided by Cardea staff, and in So Cal we are looking at different models to provide support in this area with less direct staffing.
