AMAAD: Labor Day Weekend Luau Picnic

The AMAAD INSTITUTE is Hosting a Luau Picnic to Raise Awareness on Recovery, Mental and Substance Use Disorders and the Support Services that are provided in South Los Angeles
Mental and substance use disorders and the societal benefits of recovery for South Los Angeles must be addressed immediately.  The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration (SAMHSA), which is within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services recognizes September  as National Recovery Month. To promote a local observance, the AMAAD Institute is planning and leading  an event that will feature  individuals and organizations that provide peer-based  support to black and brown LGBTQ people in recovery and draw attention to critical prevention, treatment, and recovery support services. This event on recovery is intended to promote awareness on mental and substance use disorders, and recovery support programs that are offered to AMAAD’s priority population in South Los Angeles.
