L.A. Trust for Children's Health: 3rd Annual Tooth Fairy Convention

The L.A. Trust for Children’s Health hosts the 3rd Annual Tooth Fairy Convention -a free community event to raise awareness about childhood oral health -on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Exposition Park.

Did you know…

that dental disease is the most common chronic disease among children and the leading cause of school absence? As part of our ongoing Oral Health Initiative, we have coordinated in-school oral health screenings and preventive services for nearly 10,000 students aged 2-18 and found that more than half have active dental disease, with 5% consistently in need of urgent dental treatment.

In response to this epidemic, our goal is to hold an event that will result in broad public awareness and also honor the parents who helped make our oral health screening program possible.

Dentists and dental hygienists provide free oral health screenings and guests are given referral lists to low cost, community-based dental homes.

Community partners unite to offer education on oral health as it related to various topics including pregnancy, early childhood, educational success, finances, obesity, tobacco, etc.

Volunteers guide guests through educational exhibits and screening booths Our guests walk away as informed, empowered community health advocates.

The L.A. Trust is committed to providing delicious and nutritious food options as well as fluoridated tap water from the LADWP Water Wagon -a truck load of ice cold water with the power to prevent cavities! These tasty offerings are enjoyed to the sound of live music while children have the opportunity to play at our Children’s FunZone which includes a bounce house, face painting, and games! Guests who complete the educational programming receive tickets to redeem in multiple opportunity drawings to win prizes throughout the day.
