Ending the HIV Epidemic is a five-year federal initiative focused on reducing HIV across the U.S. by 75% in 2025 and 90% by 2030 by focusing on four key pillars: (1) diagnosing people with HIV as early as possible, (2) treating people with HIV rapidly and effectively, (3) preventing new HIV transmissions, and (4) responding quickly to HIV outbreaks to get needed prevention and treatment services to people who need them. New Title X Regulations

On March 4, 2019, the Trump administration published new regulations for the Title X program. The regulations represent some of the most extreme policy shifts proposed in the history of the program, and if implemented, will delay access to essential health services for patients that rely on Title X for care. Essential Access Health filed a lawsuit to block the harmful and unlawful regulations from taking effect, and protect Title X’s mandate to ensure access to comprehensive family planning services for all. A federal judge in California issued a preliminary injunction to temporarily halt implementation of the new regulations statewide.

Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Action Opposes AB 1250 (Jones-Sawyer)

AB1250 is a bill designed to drastically alter the delivery of services to vulnerable residents of LA County. It would, among other things, impede service provision for children, youth and adults in Los Angeles who rely upon the County to provide for their basic needs, such as food, shelter, public health, mental health and other services. Currently, the County relies on numerous small businesses and non-profit organizations to deliver these services.

House Committee Advances Bill that Eliminates Title X

Yesterday, the House Appropriations Committee passed the fiscal year (FY) 2018 appropriations bill for the Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, Education and Related agencies. 

The bill includes the elimination of Title X and bars discretionary funding to Planned Parenthood. Funding for the Teen Pregnancy Prevention program was also eliminated. Learn more about Title X from Essential Access Health.
